. Bring loads of sunscreen-the locals don’t need it, so they know they can charge almost anything and you will buy it
2. NO MORE MIDDLEMEN-if you want a boat ride-go to a pier and haggle with captain (not sure if this is legal but it works)-if you want to take a bus-go to the bus station.  If you are lost, buy a map.
3. Buy Street Food-restaurants will charge 2 to 5 times what you can get from a street vendor
4. The best, cheapest and cleanest hotels are always located down the alleyway/sidestreets (called sois) almost never on main drags
5. Always take taxis, they are far cheaper than tuk-tuks-but make sure they turn on the meter
